$7.054 MILLION VERDICT RENDERED AGAINST LOCAL ASSISTED LIVING FACILITY
CKO trial attorneys Lena Daggs and Nate Morris represented the family of James Wright, an 88-year-old man who suffered a fatal stroke after being assaulted by another resident at Pheasant Run Alzheimer's Special Care Center. During the 6-day trial, the jury heard evidence that Pheasant Run ignored previous assaultive behavior and failed to discharge the resident perpetrator consistent with company policy. Following Lena's closing arguments, the jury rendered a verdict totaling $7,054,652 in compensatory damages for Mr. Wright and his three adult children. This appears to be the largest reported Utah verdict for a wrongful death medical malpractice case. Congratulations to Lena, Nate, and Eric Olson, who also oversaw discovery and assisted with trial strategy!
